MoneyPaths

Terms of use

Last updated 1 August 2026

By using this site you accept these terms and the privacy notice. Please read both before using the tools.

What this site is

MoneyPaths provides free educational tools, guides and analysis about UK personal finance. Everything on it is general information, not financial advice: nothing here takes your personal circumstances into account, and nothing here tells you what to do. For advice on your own situation, you can speak to a financial adviser authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority; for free, government-backed guidance, see MoneyHelper.

The analysis pages apply the same models to example situations, to show how the rules behave across a range of salaries, balances and circumstances. The people in them are illustrations, not case studies of real borrowers, and the figures describe those examples rather than you.

Simulations, not predictions

The tools and the analysis published here show simulated outcomes across many possible futures, worked out on assumptions that are stated alongside them. They are illustrations of how outcomes could vary, not forecasts of what will happen. Change an assumption and the figures change with it. Real outcomes will differ from every simulated future.

Accuracy

We work to keep the underlying rules and figures aligned with published government sources, and the assumptions used are listed on the page. Even so, figures can lag announcements, contain errors, or be superseded. The site is provided as is, and accuracy, completeness and availability are not guaranteed. GOV.UK and the Student Loans Company are the authoritative sources for the rules that apply to you.

Student loan rules, thresholds and interest rates change, and announced policy can be altered, delayed or reversed before it takes effect. Each analysis page shows the date it was last reviewed and what would trigger the next review. It describes the position as we understood it on that date; it is not revised continuously, and later announcements may have overtaken it.

Relying on this content

Nothing on this site is a basis for a decision about your own money. The figures describe example situations under stated assumptions, and take no account of your income, your other debts, your tax position, your pension, or anything else about your circumstances. GOV.UK and the Student Loans Company hold the rules that actually apply to you, and a financial adviser authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority can advise on your own position.

Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we accept no liability for loss or damage arising from use of this site or reliance on its content. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under the law of England and Wales, and nothing in them affects your statutory rights.

Gratuities

Any gratuity you choose to leave through the site is entirely voluntary. It buys nothing, creates no client or advice relationship, and does not change anyone's access to the tools, which stay free to use. A gratuity made in error will be refunded on request - the contact email is in the footer.

Copyright

The content, design and code of this site are protected by copyright. That includes the written analysis, the charts and tables, and the modelled figures they contain, which are our own work rather than published data.

You may link to any page freely, and quote short extracts or individual figures with attribution to MoneyPaths and a link to the page they came from. Reproducing substantial parts of the site, or republishing its analysis, charts or underlying datasets, requires permission - the contact email is in the footer.

Changes

These terms and the privacy notice may change as the site evolves; the date at the top of each shows when it was last updated. Continued use after a change means the current version applies.
